Mon Pineda, an artist, a creative director, and a father, answers some of our questions.
This is your first children’s book project. What was it like working on your first picture book/s? How is it different from your other creative work?
My first book. Working with my first picture book was exciting. Crafting the illustration was quite a challenge but the writer’s words give me a lot of inspiration. Working on a children’s book intrigues me, kid’s mind captures me. This is very different from my advertising work.
What are three words that describe your illustrations for children?
Pop art, humorous, educational
What is your working environment like? What helps you be more creative?
Working near my 8 year old son is my working environment.
What were some of the challenges you faced while working on this book?
Choosing the right tone and mood for each fruit was my biggest challenge.
What was the best thing about working on this project with Tahanan?
I felt at home working with Tahanan.
Tell us more about your upcoming projects. What’s next in store for you? OR What would you love to illustrate next?
None project so far. But I love to do another picture book for kids.
