Dindo Llana

Dindo Llana received his bachelor's degree in fine arts from the University of the Philippines. In 1995 he received the bronze medal from the Art Association of the Philippines Art Competition. Mr. Llana collaborated with Neni Sta. Romana-Cruz on the runaway bestsellers You Know You're Filipino If...A Pinoy Primer and Ngalang Pinoy: A Primer on Filipino Wordplay. He also illustrated Tahanan's Pinoy Almanac and Planner, written by Fr. Rene B. Javellana, S.J. In 1997. Mr. Llana illustrated and designed The Secret Is in the Sauce (Bookmark) for which he bagged a National Book Award for Design. Among other books he has illustrated are Ayokong Pumasok sa Paaralan, Hugis Bugis Wugis, and Cat Eyes. His book Anna Learns to Swim was a finalist in the 1996 National Book Award for Best Children's Literature competition and was shortlisted in the German publication The White Raven. Mr. Llana is a member of Ang Ilustrador ng Kabataan (INK), an organization of Filipino artists devoted to children's book illustration. He is currently an art director at an advertising agency he co-owns with friends. He lives in Quezon City.
